“What is the number of players he has found?” Faults in the ex-Copenhagen star The way Jose Peseiro handled the Super Eagles.

Nigeria’s underwhelming November results have put additional pressure on the former Porto and Sporting CP manager.

According to Soccernet.ng, former Nigerian international Peter Ijeh expressed his dissatisfaction with Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro’s coaching style.

Ijeh is worried because Nigeria’s performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying rounds against Lesotho and Zimbabwe was disappointing.

The Super Eagles were fortunate to escape Lesotho with a shocking 1-1 draw in Uyo. Three days later, they had to force Zimbabwe to another scoreless draw thanks to a goal from Kelechi Iheanacho in the second half.

In both games, the three-time African champions produced few obvious opportunities, and Ijeh is certain that coach Peseiro is to blame for that.

The former striker for Malmo and FC Copenhagen criticizes Peseiro for starting a team that is devoid of creative midfielders but stacked with strikers.

Ijeh feels that Napoli’s striker would have still struggled in Peseiro’s flawed setup, even though he acknowledges that the Super Eagles’ poor performances were partially caused by the absence of star forward Victor Osimhen.

Even more infuriating to the former Julius Berger attacker is the fact that since taking over the Super Eagles 18 months ago, Peseiro has not added any new elite players.

It is challenging to accept. How else do you explain those kinds of performances against Zimbabwe and Lesotho, really? Ijeh informed Brila FM.

“These subpar outcomes must be the coach’s fault. Nothing more needs to be said. He’s not, in my opinion, getting the most out of the group. The team isn’t even evenly matched to begin with.

“The strikers aren’t scoring goals because the midfielders aren’t creative enough. In football, creation is the key to scoring; without it, you cannot win.

“Osimhen would have contributed against Zimbabwe, but there weren’t many clear-cut opportunities, so he would have had difficulty scoring as well.

And so, the question is: Who on the team has he improved? What is the number of players he has found? Without a doubt, none.

Ijeh played for Malmo and went on to win the Danish league title with FC Copenhagen in 2006 and to finish as the Allsvenskan top scorer in 2002 with 24 goals.

Ijeh turned to coaching after he finished playing football, and he has worked with Assyriska BK and the Swedish Division 2 team Vårgårda IK.
