The team’s season took a nosedive when quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered a torn Achilles midway through the season. Now, they must decide whether to try to acquire a new quarterback for their potent offense or try to bring Cousins back.

The Vikings possess an NFC-caliber offense with tight end T.J. Hockenson, running back Ty Chandler, and wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.

But instead of giving Jefferson record-breaking compensation, CBS Sports’ Kyle Long said that the Vikings should move Jefferson away for a plethora of players and/or draft picks and bolster other aspects of the squad.

“The Minnesota Vikings should move Justin Jefferson; I’ve been hammering this point home all season. Because you didn’t win a Super Bowl despite having the best wide receiver in football, Long remarked. “Go get a bunch of other amazing players [back] and get rid of Justin Jefferson.”

Given how excellent Jefferson has been in just four seasons, this is a really daring opinion that not many will share.

Despite missing a lot of games this season, he concluded with another 1,000-yard season and is a key component of the Vikings attack.

The theory behind a Jefferson trade is that it would aid the Vikings in assembling a cohesive roster—but that’s if Minnesota receives a player who can perform at the caliber of Jefferson and that Addison and Hockenson can compensate for Jefferson’s loss.
