Jaguars Limited Cam Robinson accepts his interim backup position as he gets ready for a four-game ban.

Florida’s Jacksonville (AP) — For the first time in his six-year career, left tackle Cam Robinson of the Jacksonville Jaguars is a backup.
Although he didn’t want the smaller position, he is accepting it.
“To be honest, it’s not that bad,” Robinson joked.

Robinson was suspended by the NFL last month for the first four regular season games due to his use of performance-enhancing drugs in violation of league regulations. After practice on Thursday, Robinson discussed the punishment in public for the first time, claiming that following his December ligament tear in his right knee, he inadvertently consumed an illegal substance.

It took more than five months for Robinson to learn the final outcome of the appeals process after he was first informed about the failed drug test in January. “It was a long time coming, really, really nerve-wracking,” he said. “Probably the most nerve-wracking offseason I’ve had. So, yeah, it’s kind of good to get the verdict and know what I got to know, do know what I got down the road and just work to getting back to where I need to be.” Robinson added, “I hadn’t even started rehabbing yet. I was still on crutches. I take full responsibility for it. I just got to be more careful and cautious about what I’m putting into my system.”

Coach Doug Pederson chose to use training camp and the preseason to give third-year player Walker Little more playing time at the position, despite the fact that he anticipates having Robinson available for 13 games this autumn. Thus, for the first time since his rookie training camp in 2017, Robinson is serving as a backup.

“We are aware of the circumstances. Both of them need to be ready, Pederson stated.

When Robinson returns in early October, Pederson plans to move Little to left guard, a position he has never held. However, Robinson will have to spend a portion of the sentence outside of the facility.
