After losing No. 1 NFL draft pick to Giants, Raiders coach only has four-word message to fans
After defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders gave up their No. 1 overall pick for next year’s draft.
As of today, that pick is set to go to the Giants.
The Raiders are currently 3-12, while the Giants sit at 2-13, making them the NFL’s only two-win team.
If the Giants lose the remainder of their games, they would secure the No. 1 overall pick for the third time in franchise history, having previously held it in 1951 and 1965. This would give them the opportunity to select their preferred quarterback for the future, whether that’s Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward, or, though less likely, another prospect.
Following Sunday’s 19-14 victory over Jacksonville, Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce was asked to address fans who might be frustrated with the team potentially forfeiting the top pick in the 2025 draft.
“Talk to [general manager] Tom Telesco,” Pierce responded, according to Vegas Sports Today.
Meanwhile, the Giants experienced their 10th consecutive loss for the first time in their 100-season history, suffering a 34-7 defeat to the Falcons in Atlanta on Sunday.
The Giants will finish their season with upcoming games against the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles.
