This weekend, Tennessee will host official visits by a tight end target from the transfer portal and an in-state cornerback in the Class of 2024.
Less than two weeks remain until Early Signing Day, and Tennessee will be welcoming two official guests this weekend. While a tight end in the transfer portal began visiting Knoxville to further explore his options, one of the top remaining targets for the Vols in the 2024 class is back in Knoxville to examine Tennessee more closely before making his final college decision.
This weekend, the Vols will host official visits from Notre Dame tight end Holden Staes and Class of 2024 cornerback Jaren Sensabaugh, a former Vanderbilt commitment from Nashville, Tennessee’s Ensworth School. Sensabaugh is one of the players Tennessee hopes to add to its class of 2024, while Staes, who just finished his sophomore season with the Fighting Irish, has become a top target for the Vols since he added his name to the transfer portal on Monday.
Four-star wide receiver commit ends recruiting, intends to sign with the Vols
At his signing ceremony on Friday, a Top 247 wide receiver who has been committed to Tennessee since June declared his intention to stay with the Vols.
On Early Signing Day, Braylon Staley will still be nearly two weeks away from formally deciding on his college. However, it was evident from the signing ceremony he conducted on Friday that he has no plans to renounce his long-standing pledge to Tennessee.
The four-star wide receiver from Strom Thurmond High School in Johnston, South Carolina, who is committed to Tennessee despite pressure from home-state rival South Carolina, told GoVols247 on Friday that he is ending his recruitment. Staley visited the home of the Gamecocks wide receivers coach Justin Stepp on Wednesday, but the Top247 prospect stated he is still fully committed to the Vols and intends to enroll early.
Transfer portal: Nyland Green of Georgia enters, and the best cornerbacks available
With Georgia’s Nyland Green leaping to the top of the defensive back rankings and into the top 5 overall with a 95 overall rating, the college football transfer portal is welcoming some of the best cornerbacks it has ever seen. This offseason, more than 300 defensive backs have registered on the portal; nearly 200 of those players have received three-star ratings or better.
Green is the fifth transfer cornerback to receive a four-star rating this offseason. We’ve also made the decision to examine the top ten corners to date to join the portal, offering information on team interest and arranging visits for a number of the best prospects.
The transfer cornerback rankings were headed by Toriano Pride, a former Clemson Tiger, before Green entered the portal. He showed how quickly things can move in the portal before it closes at the end of the day on January 1, 2024, by committing to Missouri on Wednesday.
One game into the season, Perkins informed the Gators of his plans to use the transfer portal back in September. In the season-opening victory over Utah, he played in a limited capacity and made one tackle. Playing the STAR position, he recorded 14 tackles (12 solo), 2 tackles for loss, and 1 interception in all 13 games for Florida in 2022. That season, he gave up 159 yards and one touchdown on 14 receptions on 18 targets while covering.
