During the first full week of the contact period, Tennessee coach Josh Heupel and his staff have continued to visit different parts of the nation. Prior to the final two visit weekends before Early Signing Day, the Vols have met with top targets and some of their current commitments.

Heupel traveled to the Houston area on Thursday with offensive line coach Glen Elarbee to have an in-home visit with four-star Tennessee offensive tackle commit Bennett Warren, a top-100 prospect from Sugar Land, Texas’ Fort Bend Christian Academy. In addition, Heupel and Elarbee traveled to the Dallas region to visit with four-star Vols offensive line commit Max Anderson, a Top247 prospect from Frisco, Texas’ Reedy High School.

Heupel and Abeln of the Vols will visit another tight end via the transfer portal.
Tennessee’s coaches will see another veteran tight end on Monday after hosting a transfer tight end over the weekend.

Over the weekend, one of the best tight ends available via the transfer portal made a visit to Tennessee, but the Vols aren’t giving up on finding an experienced tight end just yet. On Monday, Tennessee coach Josh Heupel is scheduled to see another highly sought-after candidate for the position.

Heupel will travel to Kentucky on Monday afternoon with first-year Vols tight ends coach Alec Abeln. Jordan Dingle, a former standout from Bowling Green (Ky.) High School who formerly resided in Murfreesboro, Tenn., is a tight end for Kentucky. With two seasons left to go, he is still eligible to play for the Wildcats as a redshirt sophomore.

The college football bowl season is rapidly approaching, and this weekend’s games will serve as the catalyst for the festivities. As the 2023–24 season draws to a close, 41 bowl games (excluding the National Championship Game) will take place from Saturday through New Year’s Day. It goes without saying that the College Football Playoff semifinals are the main event as Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama compete to advance to the national championship game on January 8 in Houston. There’s enough football to keep everyone busy until then.

The remaining New Year’s Six games offered fascinating confrontations between teams that were considered for the College Football Playoff in late November. But when it comes to which college football players will be playing in bowl games, the transfer portal and opt-outs introduce an element of uncertainty. These postseason games now appear to be more of a sneak peek at a team’s potential for the following season.
