The Collingwood captain had surgery in advance of the 2024 flag defense.
Before the operation, the standout defender had been put on a restricted program.

Before the team’s Christmas break, Collingwood skipper Darcy Moore allegedly had surgery for a wrist problem.

Moore was one of nine Magpies named in a pre-season injury update for the defending premiers released last month. The team also disclosed that their captain was sidelined throughout the off-season because of an injury that persisted into the latter part of the season.

Moore recently had minor wrist surgery, which isn’t likely to keep the Premiership captain from returning to training early in the upcoming season, according to Xander McGuire of 9 News.

Collingwood’s 2023 preseason has concluded, and on Thursday, January 11, they are anticipated to resume full training.

Before the holidays, Pies captain Darcy Moore had minor wrist surgery. He is currently recovering nicely, and by January 11 he should be back with the group at full strength.
Moore, 27, played 24 games for the Magpie this season and helped the team win the championship. The only injury that derailed his career was a hamstring strain sustained late in the season.

As part of Collingwood’s title defense preparations, Jamie Elliott and Brayden Maynard, two important players, had shoulder surgeries following their grand final victory over Brisbane.

Elliott is likely to return in January, but Maynard is not slated to resume full training until February.

After suffering an ACL injury during training, star forward Dan McStay will probably miss the entire 2024 season for the Magpies. Collingwood also placed emerging star Nick Daicos and ruckman Darcy Cameron on limited pre-season programs after a successful 2023 season.

Opening Round matches against GWS and North Melbourne in February will prepare Collingwood for the 2024 season. On Saturday, March 7, Collingwood will travel to GIANTS Stadium to play GWS.
