Major Super League transfer opportunity collapses ahead of 2024 And sexual assault lawsuit involving a former Broncos player will be decided.

Prior to the 2024 season, the Leigh Leopards were expected to sign Tristan Sailor from the Brisbane Broncos; however, this is no longer happening, which could have a cascading impact.

The son of renowned dual coder Wendall Sailor, the Leopards were apparently just awaiting a visa to complete their signing of Sailor before the start of the new season. According to League Scene, the visa was approved, therefore it seems like an announcement will happen soon. Even Leigh Owner Derek Beaumont appeared to be hinting at one’s impending arrival, but then silence descended.

Beaumont then said that the relocation will not take place. Additionally, Leigh is able to hold onto forward Ben Nakubuwai, who was supposedly going to quit the team in order to make room for Sailor to join the Leopards. Despite this back and forth, the team is getting ready for the upcoming campaign, as stated by Head Coach Adrian Lam on the team’s website:

As our pitch is being replaced this year, we will have to play away from home for a longer length of time than usual, but it will be well worth it for our excellent playing surface. Super League games are never easy.

It’s been nice to be back this week, and I can’t wait to incorporate the matches into my forms and get ready for what I anticipate will be a challenging yet exciting rugby league season. Derek and the board will undoubtedly provide another feast of fun to go along with the players’ proud and passionate representation of our town and fans, I’m sure of it. “This year’s Den is going to be amazing, and I can’t wait to hear the roar.”

“It’s always an exciting time of the season receiving your fixtures and one I eagerly anticipate so I can get the diary moving with various other commitments non-sports-related,” club owner Derek Beaumont continued.

Teui “TC” Robati, a former NRL player, must determine how to react to a sexual assault case after negotiations with prosecutors failed. Robati, who was cut by the Brisbane Broncos in the previous season, is charged with attacking a female customer on December 21, 2022, at a bar in Brisbane.

Robati and his attorney were not present at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday, when the case was scheduled to be mentioned. Senior Constable Michael Colclough, the police prosecutor, informed the court that Robati’s mediation was not going to proceed.

Judge Andrew Moloney inquired as to whether the case would proceed as a summary prosecution or as an indictable one, with the latter being more serious and needing a higher court. Colclough answered, “It depends whether he pleads guilty or not.” Robati’s attorney would receive notification, according to Mr. Moloney, and the case would be postponed until February 14 when he would be released on bond.
