Colts suspend Isaiah McKenzie, Tony Brown for three games.
Due to actions that were detrimental to the team, cornerback Tony Brown and receiver-punt returner Isaiah McKenzie were suspended by the Indianapolis Colts for the remaining three games of the regular season.
Officials from the team made the statement on Tuesday without going into detail about what had happened.
This season, special teams have been where both players have had the biggest impact. They were both rested from Saturday’s game against Pittsburgh.
The Colts made a matching move by promoting running back Tyler Goodson back to the active roster from the practice squad. In Saturday’s 30-13 triumph, Goodson saw his first carries of the season and finished with 11 rushes for 69 yards.
This week, the Colts (8-6) might require ball carriers. After undergoing surgery on his right thumb, Jonathan Taylor has missed the last three games for Indianapolis. Zack Moss, his substitute, was limited to four carries against the Steelers before suffering a right arm injury that he sustained during the preseason.
Whether Taylor or Moss is anticipated to play Sunday against Atlanta (1 p.m. ET) has not been stated by coach Shane Steichen.
Due to actions that are detrimental to the organisation, the Indianapolis Colts announced on Tuesday that wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie and cornerback Tony Brown will miss the final three games of the regular season.
Details regarding the behaviour were not disclosed by the Colts. It was unclear what actions taken by Brown and McKenzie led to the bans.
Before the team’s 30-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, Brown and McKenzie were both unexpectedly healthy scratches. As the 8-6 Colts struggle to secure a postseason berth, word of their bans breaks. When the postseason began this week, the Colts would have been the seventh seed in the playoffs.
This season, Brown, a fifth-year professional, has participated in 12 games, making one start. He has tallied 10 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and one pass defensed.
Seventh-year pro McKenzie has participated in 13 games, two of which he has started. He serves as the team’s main return specialist as well. He has 23 punt returns for 204 yards (8.9 yards per return) and 11 catches for 82 yards. In addition, he has six kickoff returns for 152 yards (25.3 yards per return).
