Cade McNamara, the new quarterback for Iowa, wants total control over the offence, even how the Hawkeyes break a huddle.

He declared, “I really want to start every play with a good break.” It appears a bit sloppy if we’re not in sync. A clean break just helps to get the action off to the proper start.

Although McNamara hasn’t played a snap for the No. 25 Hawkeyes in a game yet, the Michigan transfer is essential to turning around one of the worst offences in the country. Despite ranking 129th in overall offence, 123rd in running, 122nd in passing, and 122nd in scoring, Iowa managed to win eight games.

Spencer Petras, a three-year starter who finished with five touchdowns and five interceptions last season, is replaced by McNamara.

McNamara, who started for Michigan in 2021, said, “I’ve been here seven months now, and it’s been the best seven months of my life.” “I’m having a great time here and getting to know these guys. I’ve been so welcomed by everyone here. I’m happier to be here now that I’m getting the hang of things.

More than anyone else, offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz is depending on McNamara to perform. As part of a contract adjustment in February, head coach Kirk Ferentz’s son saw his income drop from $900,000 to $850,000 and his two-year rollover suspended.

He will receive a one-time payment if Iowa wins seven games and raises its scoring average to 25 points, including points from the defence and special teams.
