Rumors of Robbie Williams taking over are denied by Port Vale FC.

Fort Vale Football Club has refuted rumors that music sensation Robbie Williams is getting ready to make an acquisition bid for the team.

According to reports, Williams, 49, was preparing to buy the League One team, emulating the actions of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who acquired Wrexham FC in 2020 and finalized the sale the following year. According to the club, the Angels singer has been a lifelong supporter of the Stoke-on-Trent team, but his commitment to the group has not translated into a leadership attempt.

“We are aware of the ‘exclusive’ news that appeared in several national news outlets overnight and want to clarify the following: Robbie Williams has not made a bid to purchase Port Vale Football Club and there have been no conversations regarding that happening,” stated the statement.
The Shanahan family is “fully committed” to their role, but the club’s current owner, entrepreneur Carol Shanahan, is working with Williams “with the intention of anything delivered being in the best interests of Port Vale Football Club,” according to the statement.

Williams spent last weekend watching Port Vale in action, when the singer unveiled a suite bearing his name and was elected club president.

Report: Port Vale 2-2 Stevenage - News - Stevenage Football Club
The team, which is presently ranked 20th in League One, lost to Portsmouth 1-0 on Saturday at home.

For the second time this season, Stevenage made the trip to Vale Park with the intention of winning a crucial three points in Sky Bet League One. Luther James-Wildin, Nathan Thompson, and Finley Burns returned to the starting eleven, while Nesta Guinness-Walker made his club debut as the Gaffer made four changes from the loss at Reading on Tuesday. In difficult circumstances, Port Vale took an unexpected lead after just five minutes. The hosts took the lead early on when Terence Vancooten converted into his own net after Gavin Massey’s attempt was pulled across goal.

After the goal, Stevenage changed to a back four, with Nathan Thompson playing in midfield. The team had originally drawn up in a back five.
After the form adjustment, the visitors were progressively becoming more comfortable with the game as they found more ball in the other team’s half and developed some creative play patterns. In particular, Nesta Guinness-Walker tried to participate and move forward both with and without the ball.
