After the Miami Heat lost Game 7, Jaylen Brown, who is eligible for a $295 million contract, hinted that he would LEAVE the Boston Celtics and said, “I expected to win today… I failed.”
After the Celtics’ Game 7 loss to the Miami Heat on Monday night, Jaylen Brown remained mum about the possibility of quitting the team.
Before the game, Brown and the Celtics had a chance to make history by rallying from a 3-0 deficit to square the series 3-3, with Game 7 to be played in Boston.
They were still unable to complete it, though.
Following the game, the 26-year-old Brown was questioned about his future in Boston, but he did not say that he would be staying.
When asked if he had considered his future, he replied, “I expected to win tonight and move on.”
Given that Brown, 26, made the All-NBA team earlier in May and is eligible for a five-year, $295 million contract, his remarks are particularly noteworthy.
While everything was going on, Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla commended his team’s courage for rallying from a 3-0 deficit to advance to Game 7 versus Miami.
“It’s among the best changing areas I’ve ever been in,” Mazzulla remarked. Guys were concerned. They poured all of their energy into it.
That’s the most crucial lesson to learn from this. Obviously, we fell short of our objective. Our intention was to win, but we failed. We didn’t succeed in that area, but it wasn’t for want of character, unity, or just plain old human nature on the part of the boys.
