Both the local chapter and the Alpha Gamma Rho National Fraternity have been working closely with the Office of Student Accountability and Conflict Response to develop a comprehensive reeducation plan to realign the chapter with the fraternity’s values and principles as well as the university’s expectations for student organizations,” the university said in a written statement. “The National Fraternity has agreed to facilitate educational opportunities for individual students who wish to continue their membership with the group when the suspension is lifted.”
According to Penn State’s Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, nine fraternities at University Park are now suspended while another two are under interim suspension:
Alpha Gamma Rho: Suspended through Aug. 12, 2024, for failure to comply with a directive or condition and other university policy
Beta Theta Pi: Suspended permanently for hazing violations
Delta Sigma Iota: Suspended through May 29, 2026, for hazing, alcohol and/or drug violations; and other university policy violations
Kappa Alpha Psi: Suspended through Sept. 11, 2027, for hazing violations
Kappa Sigma: Suspended through Dec. 13, 2024, for failure to comply with a directive or condition and other university policy violations
Phi Kappa Sigma: Suspended through fall 2027 for hazing violations
⁴Pi Kappa Alpha: Suspended through fall 2025 for failure to comply with a directive or condition, alcohol and/or drug violations, and other university policy violations
