Eight players’ injuries can be updated by the Parramatta Eels after 2024 preseason training begins.
After undergoing surgery to treat a fractured eye socket, Mitchell Moses has resumed full training. Moses’ 2023 season was cut short by the injury, but he fully recovered and resumed training on Monday.
Clint Gutherson, who underwent surgery to treat a knee injury he suffered in the Eels’ 2023 season finale, has reported for preseason play. The Co-Captain of the Eels is expected to start training before Christmas with the goal of being ready for Round 1.
Junior Paulo had surgery recently to treat a persistent toe injury. In January, he will resume his training.
During the Pacific Championships, Daejarn Asi, who was representing Samoa, tore a tendon in his finger. After undergoing surgery, he should be fully recovered by the New Year.
While representing the Cook Islands in the Pacific Championships, Makahesi Makatoa sustained an injury as well. The prop needed surgery because of a torn pectoral muscle. Until the New Year, he too will not be able to train.
Unfortunately, Arthur Miller Stephen’s recent serious knee injury will prevent him from playing in 2024. The rookie back has had surgery and is starting to heal.
After suffering injuries in the final weeks of 2023, Matt Doorey and Zac Cini are back to full health and started training with the team last week.

In the first week of the Pacific Championships, eight Eels have been named for their respective countries.
Junior Paulo and Daejarn Asi have been selected to start in the rematch of the World Cup Final between the Kangaroos and Toa Samoa, and they will look to upset Australia.
While Asi makes his Samoan halfback debut, captain Paulo will lead his country in the No. 10 jersey.
Kennedy Cherrington, the captain of the NRLW, has earned a spot on the Jillaroos’ bench for their matchup against the Kiwi Ferns because of his success with Australia in the World Cup last year. Capri Paekau, an Eels teammate, has been added to the Kiwi Ferns reserve roster.
With his selection to start for the Cook Islands against the Kumuls, Makahesi Makatoa is scheduled to travel to Papua New Guinea.
Three NRLW players, Lindsay Tui, Pihuka Berryman-Duff, and Tafao Asaua, who were all selected for the Fetu Samoa team for their match against Fiji, will be joining him in Port Morseby.
