All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is going to be the main topic of discussion in the offseason for the San Francisco 49ers.

Aiyuk is entering the final year of his rookie deal, which means he is due for a contract extension. However, there is always the possibility that the 49ers could trade him. Whether it is due to salary cap constraints or a failure to find common ground on a deal. Aiyuk being traded is definitely on the table for the 49ers.

But if you ask receiver Deebo Samuel, he has a different perspective.

“I love that guy. I don’t see him leaving though,” said Samuel on the Up and Adams show with Kay Adams on Tuesday. “I don’t see him leaving.”

Samuel and Aiyuk have been a duo for the 49ers since 2020. These two are close to one another, so Samuel saying this can be viewed as great insight. He knows Aiyuk pretty well and perhaps he has been given indications from Aiyuk that a trade request will not be given.

That is what Samuel himself did when he was due for an extension two years ago.I’m sure that is a piece of advice that he has bestowed upon Aiyuk. In fact, he revealed that he gave Aiyuk to Kay Adams.

The season that he just came off of and the seasons previous, if you look at his numbers from when he got to the league and now, it’s always a different type of leap. Like I told him, you put yourself in a position to be where you want to be. He’s up for a new deal and I just tell him, cause I’ve been through it, it’s not gonna be all fine and dandy like you think it’s gonna be. You got to stay the course. You know you did everything possible for you to be in this position and just let everything play out.

It seems like Samuel is trying to preach patience to Aiyuk. That is something Samuel didn’t have with the 49ers when he wanted his extension. The thing about the 49ers is they do not work on extensions until the Summer going into training camp. So, Aiyuk cannot be anxious to get a deal done.

Like Samuel said, just stay the course and it should work itself out.
