With a lot of holes to address in free agency, particularly on offense, the New England Patriots unofficially begin the 2024 season under new head coach Jerod Mayo and general manager Eliot Wolf.

The Pats are trying to rebuild after a 4-13 season and Bill Belichick’s firing, and the trade of former franchise quarterback Mac Jones and the re-signing of receiver Kendrick Bourne are probably just the first of many dominoes to fall in the upcoming weeks.

Patriot Country keeps you updated with up-to-the-minute transactions affecting the Pats and with the biggest moves around the league.

He started 10 games for Tampa in 2022 in Tom Brady’s final NFL season. Last year he was limited to only three games, mostly by a shoulder injury.

According to GSE Football and NFL Network, the Pats are signing free-agent defensive tackle Armon Watts to a one-year contract. The Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan reports that the deal has a maximum value of $3 million.
In 2019, Watts was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round (at pick No. 190 overall) of the NFL Draft. Before serving two one-year stints with the Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively, Watts played three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

The 6-5, 307-pound lineman has participated in 72 games during his career, starting 22 of them. With 140 total tackles, 8.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass deflection, Watts has a strong resume.

The Patriots are in severe need of a top receiver who can make plays. Tee Higgins of the Bengals has asked to be traded. Matthew Judon, a pass-rusher with the New England Patriots, considers himself a de facto general manager.

Judon, a well-known NFL free agent “recruiter” on Twitter, shared what appears to be a prank on his account on Wednesday morning. According to the post, Higgins will visit Foxboro.
