The Dallas Mavericks (38-29) were easily defeated by the Oklahoma City Thunder (46-20) on Thursday because to outstanding performances from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams.

The OKC Thunder single-season record for the most games with 30 or more points has already been surpassed by Gilgeous-Alexander. Going for 31 points against the Mavericks, he earned another spectacular performance.

Gilgeous-Alexander dressed for the 65th time this season in the Dallas match. He became qualified for postseason awards as a result of the new NBA regulation.
Gilgeous-Alexander will undoubtedly enjoy another All-NBA season as long as he satisfies the selection criteria. The league-leading 31.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 2.1 steals, and almost a block (0.9) per game are all being recorded by the OKC Thunder star.

The Kentucky product was selected for the first team and finished fifth in the MVP vote in the previous season, earning him a spot on his first All-NBA team. Gilgeous-Alexander will once again be named to the first team of the NBA following another season of growth, and he may even win the Most Valuable Player Award.

In the 2025 NBA Offseason, Gilgeous-Alexander will be qualified for a Super Max contract extension if he is officially selected to an All-NBA team. With three years remaining on his present contract, the 25-year-old would be expected to spend his whole prime in Bricktown if he were to sign the super max deal.

It appears likely that the two parties will be vying to sign the super max contract in 2025 given the Thunder’s current trajectory and the money that comes with the deal.
