A former third-round pick of the New York Giants has been released from the practice squad.
One of the worst defenses in the league is that of the New York Giants. They give up the second-most yards, the fifth-most yards per play, the tenth-most passing yards, and the fourth-most points.
They still have the same pass rush. They are 20th in quarterback knockdowns, 29th in sacks, and 23rd in pressures despite having the second-highest amount of blitzing in the league
The good news for the Giants is that their pass rushers are becoming healthier, as evidenced by Azeez Ojulari’s return to the starting lineup three weeks ago.
They cut defensive end Oshane Ximines from the practice squad because their pass rushers are becoming healthier.

Oshane Ximines was selected by the New York Giants in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, 95th overall. During his rookie season, Ximines played in every game and started two of them. He finished with 25 tackles, five for loss, 4.5 sacks, nine quarterback hits, and 12 pressures.
Ximines was a starting defensive end to begin his second season. He played in all four of the opening games, starting three of them, and registering five pressures, three quarterback hits, one for loss, and five tackles. In Week 4, he sustained a torn rotator cuff that ended his season.
Ximines spent the first seven games of his third season in a rotational role. He had a difficult time in those contests and was benched in six of their final nine games. Upon completion, he accounted for 27% of defensive snaps with 13 tackles, two quarterback hits, and four pressures.
Last season, injuries to Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari gave Ximines a lot of playing time. With 24 tackles, three for loss, two sacks, eight quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and nine pressures—or 51% of defensive snaps—he played in 15 games, starting four of them.
In the offseason of 2023, the Giants re-signed Ximines to a $1,180,000, one-year contract. He was cut from the defensive rotation and traded for Boogie Basham from the Buffalo Bills, so he was not included in the 53-man roster. Ximines joined the practice squad by signing.
In Weeks 2, 3, and 8, Ximines was elevated due to an injury sustained by Ojulari. Throughout those three games, he played in four tackles, two quarterback hits, and two pressures, accounting for 25% of the snap count.
Oshane Ximines’ NFL career might not be coming to an end. If not, he might sign with a practice squad member. He is capable of playing in an emergency situation and has experience as a rotational pass rusher.
