Although it’s probably not necessary to look too closely at the Patriots’ choice to recruit former XFL guard Liam Fornadel, the terms of his contract are intriguing. Perhaps he has a real chance of staying in New England.

Fornadel’s contract terms were released on Friday by Aaron Wilson of Houston’s KPRC2, indicating that it is a three-year agreement valued at just less than $3 million.

It’s possible that you think he was brought in for training camp depth if you’re only considering the money. But is it typical for players who have recently left the UFL to sign a three-year contract?

Although it’s unlikely, Fornadel may make the roster despite never having played a snap in the NFL. New England won’t rely on him.

Due to Cole Strange’s long-term injury, the Patriots aren’t simply searching for help at left tackle; there are now openings on the offensive line.

Before joining with New England, the Green Bay Packers expressed interest in Fornadel, an All-UFL player.

Talking about a backup offensive lineman in June seems a little weird, but this one actually has a chance to stick.
