As offseason approaches, the Baltimore Orioles face the real possibility of losing two of their key players.

Many teams, including the New York Mets, are looking to strengthen their outfields and add power hitters, with a particular focus on Santander.

According to Bleacher Report, as Santander approaches free agency, several teams, notably the Mets, are seen as potential destinations. Despite the possibility of not returning to the Orioles, he’s likely to land a substantial contract. With the potential for a 40-home run season in 2024 and a solid average of 31 home runs and 92 RBIs from 2022-2023, it’s clear he’s not just a one-season wonder.

In the current 2024 season, Santander has played 129 games, recording 38 home runs and 86 RBIs, along with a batting line of .236/.305/.514.

While the Orioles would prefer to keep him, financial limitations and the need to invest in multiple players may complicate matters. Similar uncertainties surround Burnes as well.

As the offseason progresses, there remains a chance Santander could return to Baltimore in 2025, but numerous teams are positioning themselves as contenders for his signature. The Mets, in particular, are a team to watch as they strive to compete for a World Series title.

In other news, the Orioles have added veteran right-handed reliever Nick Anderson to their bullpen, as reported by Darren Wolfson of SKOR North. It’s unclear if this is a Major League deal as of Tuesday night.

Anderson bounced back in 2023 with the Atlanta Braves, posting a 3.06 ERA over 35 appearances. While he faced challenges with the Royals, leading to a higher ERA and fewer strikeouts, he displayed potential during a short stint with the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate, allowing only one earned run and striking out five in 4.1 innings.

Though he hasn’t returned to his top form lately, the Orioles could gain from his experience and added depth, especially with Felix Bautista and Danny Coulombe currently on the injured list.
