USC key defensive starter Akili Arnold is considered “doubtful” for the game against Wisconsin.
USC starting safety Akili Arnold will reportedly be a game-time decision for today’s matchup against the Wisconsin Badgers, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. Zenitz states that Arnold is currently considered doubtful, but a final decision will be made before the game.
The redshirt senior is a crucial part of a USC defense that has shown improvement this season. After transferring from Oregon State, where he started for three years, Arnold has tallied 14 total tackles, one tackle for loss, half a sack, and one pass deflection over the first three weeks. His presence, along with other offseason transfers like DT Gavin Meyer, DT Nate Clifton, LB Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, S Kamari Ramsey, and CB Greedy Vance Jr., has significantly bolstered the USC defense, which struggled in previous seasons.
As kickoff approaches at 3:30 p.m. ET, Arnold’s status will be closely monitored.
Additionally, USC will be missing defensive tackle Bear Alexander, who has chosen to redshirt and sit out the rest of the season. Wisconsin aims to secure a significant victory to mark the second year of Luke Fickell’s tenure against a USC defense that may not be at full strength.
