Oklahoma’s Brent Venables Preparation for 2025 Kicks Off with the  Death of Former Legend Fall Season Opening on Wednesday.

The fall season for the four-time defending national champions kicks off on Wednesday night.

Patty Gasso, recently honored with a bronze statue outside Love’s Field, faces the task of integrating many new players as she prepares to lead her program into the SEC.

Following the departure of Oklahoma’s legendary senior class, which celebrated a fourth consecutive title at the Women’s College World Series last June, Gasso is eager to embrace the challenge of uniting a new team.

“I’m excited because I get to coach again,” Gasso stated after her statue dedication last month. “No offense to last year’s team—they were incredible—but I mostly managed. This year, we’ll be coaching, and these athletes are prideful and eager to be here. They want to pick up the torch and continue the legacy.”

The 2025 OU softball team will begin to take shape with a scrimmage at Love’s Field on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
