Deion Sanders Advocates for a Significant Change in College Football.
Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is advocating for a significant shift in college football regulations. He’s particularly focused on the NCAA rules concerning redshirt players.
Ahead of the Week 7 game against the Kansas State Wildcats, Coach Prime discussed how players across college football are opting to sit out the rest of the season after playing four games to preserve an extra year of eligibility. Sanders believes that these players should be allowed to transition to their new team during the season instead of staying with their current program. He clarifies that this wouldn’t affect players who wish to remain at their school; instead, those transferring could practice with their new team but would not be eligible to play immediately.
“It should be an NCAA rule that if you’re making that decision, you should be allowed to start your next chapter with whatever team you’ve been communicating with,” Sanders said during an Oct. 8 press conference.
He also pointed out a discrepancy regarding players’ offers in the transfer portal, highlighting an example of players being offered $600,000 without entering the portal. “Why didn’t anyone ask that question? I have time for this discussion today,” he added.
