Oklahoma Grants Softball Coach Patty Gasso New Contract Averaging $2.05 Million Annually.

The Oklahoma Board of Regents approved a landmark new contract for University of Oklahoma softball coach Patty Gasso during a meeting in Tulsa on Friday.

Gasso, who has led the Sooners to four consecutive national championships, will receive a deal averaging $2.05 million annually through the 2028 season, excluding potential performance bonuses.

Already the highest-paid coach in college softball, Gasso’s previous contract was worth $1.775 million for the last season and was set to increase to $1.825 million on July 1. However, her salary was retroactively raised to $1.9 million as of that date, with planned annual increases of $100,000 over the next three years.

Entering her 31st season with Oklahoma in 2025, Gasso has guided the Sooners to eight Women’s College World Series titles and boasts a record of 1,515-352-2 since taking over in 1995.

Her coaching staff also received raises, with associate head coaches Jen Rocha and JT Gasso each earning $300,000.

In addition, the Board approved updates to the Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium master plan. This includes negotiating an agreement for architectural services with Populous, Inc. to further develop stadium projects in line with the master plan, which notably includes improvements to field lighting. Future upgrades to the stadium will focus on enhancing the west lower bowl, upper deck, press box, and other areas.

The Board also allocated $7 million for the planning and design phase of the project, funded by the athletic department and private sources.

Furthermore, Oklahoma baseball coach Skip Johnson and his staff received raises as well. Johnson’s new contract will extend through 2029, averaging $1.28 million annually, starting at $1 million in 2025 and rising to as much as $1.5 million in 2029. This new deal follows reports of his interest in the head coaching position at Texas A&M.
