25-year-old Venezuelan infielder signed by the Milwaukee Brewers to handle invitation to big league camp

There is a type of Milwaukee Brewers. They adore adaptable guys with the ability to run and get on base. Yonny Hernandez, a 25-year-old switch-hitting infielder from Venezuela, is their most recent addition and he embodies all of those traits.

The agreement was first reported by Robert Murray of MLB Insider.

The Milwaukee Brewers extended an invitation to big league camp as part of Yonny Hernandez’s minor league contract.

Over the last three seasons, Yonny Hernandez has only had a limited amount of experience in the major leagues. He has only played in 69 MLB games and 221 plate appearances, although he has played for the Texas Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Yonny Hernandez has played every position in the infield in the minor levels. As previously said, he consistently records high stolen base and base percentage figures. Although he is not very good at slugging the ball, his strategy of being patient and focused on making contact has served him well in his brief career.

During spring training, he will be able to demonstrate his abilities at the major league level as a Brewer. Before he could play for the Brew Crew in any regular season games, Milwaukee would need to add him to their 40-man roster if he performs well. There is still one minor league option available to him.

It’s common to see signings of this kind over the winter. After spending the last three seasons on the outside of many major league clubs, Yonny Hernandez will finally get his chance with the Milwaukee Brewers.
