Eight new professional teams throughout Asia, $700,000 in prize money, and the season one winners are announced by Major League Pickleball Australia in 2024.

The First Season’s Success and What’s Ahead

The Brisbane Breakers are the official Professional Pickleball League of Australia’s Season One winners, announced today by Major League Pickleball Australia (MLP Australia).

Melbourne hosted the season finale, which included a record $70,000 prize fund. The Gold Coast Glory placed second, the Sydney Smash placed third despite a victory at home in the Pacific Pro Sydney, and the Melbourne Mavericks placed fourth. The Brisbane Breakers emerged victorious from both the Pacific Pro Brisbane and Pacific Pro Melbourne competitions.

With this outcome, the inaugural season of MLP Australia and Pacific Pickleball, Australia’s official Professional Pickleball League in collaboration with the Pickleball Australia Association (PAA), comes to a conclusion. Over $200,000 in prizes were awarded over the season at five different tournaments held in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and the Gold Coast.

In 2024, there will be six events spread throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, along with $700,000 in prizes and eight new professional teams.

Players from all over the world are applying to MLP Australia and Pacific Pickleball because they continue to offer the biggest cash prizes and the best pickleball outside of the US.

Mitch Hargreaves will lead the Sydney Smash once more.

Sarah Burr, the Gold Coast Glory’s captain, is coming back.

The Melbourne Mavericks’ captain, Aaron Blitz, will make a comeback.

Brisbane Breakers, the inaugural champions of the season, will once again be captained by Ludovica Sciaky.

Furthermore, MLP Australia is pleased to announce the addition of two additional Asian-based teams.

As Australia’s official Professional Pickleball League, Pacific Pickleball offers the greatest events, top players, and biggest prize money in all of Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. In collaboration with the Pickleball Australia Association (PAA), Pacific Pickleball provides two formats for athletes: the Pro Teams Format offered by Major League Pickleball Australia (MLP Australia) and the Pro Tour Format offered by Pacific Pickleball League (PPL) for both Open and Masters 50+ Athletes. In order to bring pickleball to everyone, Pacific Pickleball wants to increase the number of pickleball players in Asia to one million by 2032.
