David Seaman confirms that Mikel Arteta will start for Arsenal against Brentford in a significant way.

Aaron Ramsdale will make his Premier League comeback for Arsenal this weekend against Brentford, according to David Seaman.

Despite David Raya’s unimpressive play, the England international has struggled to regain his position as the Gunners’ undisputed No. 1 and has been unable to force his way back into Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Ramsdale recently shared details of the most difficult time in his professional life, and his father did little to support him by implying that Arteta had handled his son’s demotion poorly.

Raya isn’t allowed to play against the team that loaned him to Arsenal in August, so the 25-year-old, who has only made appearances in the Carabao Cup since being dropped, will have his chance on Saturday.

Seaman is optimistic that Ramsdale will take advantage of the situation and give his manager something to chew over before a Champions League matchup with Lens.

“His chances [of playing for England] will be affected if he is not playing,” Seaman told the BBC. If my assumption is correct, Raya will play this weekend despite being out on loan and unable to play against parent team Brentford.

“After Aaron enters and has an opportunity, I believe that’s when we will truly find out what transpires.”

We know who Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, thinks is the best if Aaron plays well on the weekend and is then benched for the next game.

It’s not beneficial for Aaron. Without a doubt, Mikel is a world-class goalkeeper, and he has the responsibility of keeping two extremely talented goalkeepers very happy.

Aaron needs to be playing going into next summer [the European Championship], when he is really pushing to be the England goalkeeper. However, I believe January will be a little too soon [to consider looking to leave Arsenal].

After this weekend, I will be giving the game a lot of thought. We will learn a great deal of information at that point. We will have to wait and see until after that game, based on what Mikel said when they brought in Raya regarding the rotation of goalkeepers.

“But without a doubt, Aaron is too good to be a number two.”
