Walsh: Before the game, we are aware of Brighton’s intentions.
Wednesday night, when the West Ham United women’s team travels to Broadfield Stadium for a Continental Tyres League Cup group stage match against Brighton & Hove Albion, her former club, Megan Walsh hopes to play.
The Hammers are hoping to recover from their Sunday defeat to Aston Villa at Chigwell Construction Stadium as they prepare for their second game in three days.
Before moving to east London this summer, the 29-year-old spent four seasons with the Seagulls. Walsh is hoping to get the chance to start in goal again in West Sussex after starting the team’s most recent Conti Cup match, a 2-1 victory over Charlton Athletic at Chigwell Construction Stadium.
Walsh is also equipped and ready to go should she be given the chance to start against her former Club.
As a goalie, you need to be prepared to seize the moment when it presents itself. We will be facing my former Club, which will be a little unusual.
“After saying hello before the start of the competition, all of our attention is directed toward ensuring that we end up with a victory and maintain the great start we’ve had.
Walsh played for the Albion for four seasons at Broadfield Stadium, making 76 appearances in all, so he is familiar with their general philosophy and style of play.
Additionally, the two teams have already played one another this season, with the Irons winning their meeting 2-0 in the Barclays Women’s Super League opener.
Walsh clarified, “Brighton is a team that will all work very hard for each other. That’s what they take great satisfaction in. They’re currently entering the match in respectable form, and I have no doubt that it will be an excellent match.
“It’s clear that we’ve faced them already this season; we understand their style of play and how to carry out our strategy to win.”
From a collective standpoint, our performances demonstrate how we are progressing as a team.
Walsh has adapted well to her new surroundings since moving to east London in August. She complimented the welcome she received from her new teammates and the assistance she received from goalkeeping coach Chris Pipe and manager Rehanne Skinner.
“The girls here are really friendly; it’s a great group to join.” After four years at Brighton, I thought the adjustment might be a little challenging at first, but I’ve really enjoyed the first few months.
“Collaborating with Rehanne has been incredible, and Chris has also motivated me to keep getting better.” I feel like they’re making me my best self. As a team, you can tell how much we are progressing by looking at our performances. I believe it will not be too much longer before those become outcomes.
