BREAKING NEWS: The Colts season output quantitative of…..

Analyzing Michael Pittman’s season output quantitatively.

Now that there are seven games remaining in Pittman’s contract year, let’s review his performance thus far.

Michael Pittman, a wide receiver for the Colts in his fourth season of a rookie contract in 2023, has been the subject of extensive writing and discussion.

Is he the real deal at wide receiver? Must he be compensated as such? In 2024, will the Colts re-sign him to a big contract?

While all of these are excellent questions, our focus today is on the hard data.

Though opinions on Pittman’s skills and value vary, it’s difficult to find too much fault with his on-field performance in 2023.

The USC product has 66 receptions (11th in the league) for 677 yards (21st) and three touchdowns through 10 games. Pittman will end the regular season with about 112 catches and will be on pace to surpass 1,000 yards receiving for the second time in his career at this rate. A season total of 112 catches would tie the third-highest in Colts franchise history and surpass any season total recorded by Reggie Wayne.

Seasonally, the most receptions

Marvin Harrison (2003) 143

115 (1999) Marvin Harrison

**112 Pittman, Michael (2023)

111 Wayne Reggie (2010)

**Estimated Amount.

To be fair, Pittman has 17 games left to finish this season compared to Harrison and Wayne’s previous 16-game campaigns. Because of this, Marvin’s 2002 snag total of 143—the third-highest in NFL history—is all the more remarkable.

This season, despite the offense switching from Anthony Richardson to Gardner Minshew at quarterback and dealing with multiple injuries to other offensive starters, Pittman has proven dependable and steady. In seven out of ten games, he has accumulated eight receptions or more.

With seven games left against the Colts, Pittman should have a decent chance to pursue a season with 110 or more receptions.
