Update On Lakers Injuries: Jarred Vanderbilt Is Increasing In “Small Segments”
The Los Angeles Lakers’ roster has suffered multiple injuries, but they have managed to maintain their position in the standings for the 2023–24 campaign.
Despite their injuries, LeBron James and Anthony Davis have managed to maintain their health and have participated in the majority of the games thus far. For some of the role players who have been made to sit out a significant amount of time, though, the same cannot be said.
Jarred Vanderbilt is still sidelined while he recovers from bursitis in his left heel. After playing in the Lakers’ opening preseason game, Vanderbilt has not played again.
Vanderbilt’s rehabilitation is going well, but it is taking longer than most people had anticipated. Despite being cleared to resume play nearly two weeks ago, he is still unable to play. Through Dan Woike of Los Angeles, head coach Darvin Ham provided an explanation for the delay.
The first indication that Vanderbilt was getting close to returning was when he was recently spotted working out before the game. The scrimmage progressions, on the other hand, make sense and are usually a standard step for any player returning from an injury.
Vanderbilt would move on to 5-on-5 practice after beginning his 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 drills, with full-contact practice likely coming last. Given the team’s recent injury luck, Los Angeles’ medical staff has been especially cautious when it comes to players’ health, so Vanderbilt will really need to prove to them that he’s ready to start the season.
The Lakers have missed Vanderbilt’s defensive versatility and energy on the floor, so fans are definitely hoping that he returns sooner rather than later. Vanderbilt impacts the game in a variety of ways, so even though he might not be a dependable offensive weapon, his presence would help Los Angeles have a successful regular season.
Rui Hachimura has surgery to treat a nasal fracture.
Prior to the season, the roster’s strength appeared to be its depth on the wings, but with the injuries, that strength has already been put to the test. After the Lakers’ defeat to the Dallas Mavericks, Rui Hachimura’s nasal fracture was discovered, dealing another setback to the team.
Hachimura had surgery to fix the fracture, and L.A. said that team physicians will assess him in a week.
