The firing of Frank Reich by the Panthers could help the coaching staff of the New York Jets.

The 2023 NY Jets season has been completely ruined by Nathaniel Hackett’s ridiculous offense and Aaron Rodgers’ injury, but one must always remember that things can always be worse. The Jets are at least not the Carolina Panthers, who had a disastrous season under Frank Reich’s direction.

After Carolina’s 1-10 start to the season, which put them in position to receive the top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Reich was let go. Regretfully, in a very strong draft class, the Chicago Bears currently own that pick due to the Bryce Young trade.

Young is performing terribly for Reich; his EPA and QBR are among the lowest in the league, and he has only managed one game with a passer rating above 100. Carolina managed just 15 points in their lone victory. Despite having some well-known names on the coaching staff, they will probably be replaced.

The Jets may be able to find several seasoned coaches who can help Hackett and Rodgers in less visible roles, or they may be able to replace him as offensive coordinator. The Jets may choose to bring one of these former Panthers to replace Todd Downing or Keith Carter, who are not guaranteed to return.

After firing Frank Reich, the Panthers’ coaches may be hired by the New York Jets.

OC Because he worked as Sean McVay’s assistant head coach for two seasons before accepting the Carolina position, Thomas Brown was considered a rising star in the field. Brown might be a good run-game or passing coordinator if Hackett is attempting to implement an offensive scheme akin to Shanahan’s or McVay’s.

Jim Caldwell is still one of the league’s most esteemed veteran offensive minds, and he has long been connected to head coaching positions. Having Caldwell’s insight available when making decisions could be beneficial, as he contributed to the achievements of both Peyton Manning and Matthew Stafford.

It’s likely that assistant head coach Duce Staley will become head coach at some point, and everyone around him seems to love him. Staley would be a huge boost to a team that is obviously lacking spark and intensity.

Employing one of these coaches is essentially betting on Young and the incompetent players they were assigned to be so poorly managed by everyone. If the Jets’ gut feeling turns out to be accurate, they can bring in some competent offensive coordinators who will do their best to provide New York with an authentic NFL offense while accommodating Hackett.
