BREAKING NEWS: The New York Giants Incident By A Wink Is….

Brian Daboll is “done with” discussing the Wink Martindale incident, but he isn’t done with the jokes.

On Monday afternoon, prior to his counterpart Joe Schoen’s bye-week press conference, New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll spoke to the media. The Jay Glazer report about Daboll’s alleged strained relationship with defensive coordinator Wink Martindale, Tommy DeVito’s field vision, and the availability of injured players were among the interesting topics discussed during the media session.

Glazer is a well-liked and well-connected person, and for the second day in a row, Daboll played down any potential conflict with Martindale and cracked a joke about food:

Whether it’s pizza or donuts, something doesn’t seem quite right, especially in light of the report from the person who spoiled the Odell Beckham Jr. trade. “I’m done with that,” was Daboll’s simple response when pressed for more details.

Is this a false narrative? Was it a plot to uncover a mole similar to The Departed by the Giants organization? I’m not sure, but maybe time will tell.

The competitive nature of the industry was the one topic Daboll addressed before growing terse. That might imply Daboll’s fiery sideline personality, which might or might not go well with Daboll’s calm demeanor, but I’m not sure. To be honest, though, the story surprised a few Giants players

Adoree Jackson commended Martindale as a coach and teacher after expressing his shock at the report. Though this story is far from over, Daboll’s brief comments and a well-received farewell week might temporarily stop media inquiries.

Hearing Daboll discuss quarterback Tommy DeVito was excellent. Daboll’s comment regarding DeVito’s accomplishments as an undrafted quarterback and the challenges of growing into that position is below:

It’s crucial to work toward developing that position. It’s a challenging job. As I mentioned earlier, this guy has completed all of our requests for him since OTAs,” Daboll remarked. In my opinion, he had two excellent mentors among the players there. I believe that both offensive coordinator Mike Kafka and quarterback coach Shea Tierney do a fantastic job working with him. We get together once a week. Since OTAs, we have talked about a wide range of topics. In fact, I had just had a meeting with him before coming down here. He has a lot of work ahead of him and the correct mindset. Although he is still a very young player, he has shown some improvement and performed well for us.

Daboll lacked a great deal of knowledge regarding the Giants’ injuries and their potential return date. He stated that Darren Waller and Tyrod Taylor are both “getting better,” but he hasn’t yet spoken with the training staff about their availability after parting ways.
