JUST IN: New England Patriots Has Added There Story About….

11/28/23: New England Patriots links – A story about not having a quarterback capable of starting.

Talk about quarterbacks hasn’t stopped this week. Many different viewpoints on topics such as how bad/broken Mac Jones is, who broke him, and why the Patriots can’t possibly start him this week can be found in the links. Another concern was that the quarterback competition from last week, which Mac Jones was said to have won by starting against the Giants, wasn’t actually a competition at all. The notion that neither quarterback was informed of any competition, that both quarterbacks prepared as usual, or that Mac was unprepared due to fewer snaps was spread.

It appears that the main point—that the Patriots have no starting quarterback at all—is being overlooked in those columns. It’s possible that the competition from last week—which implied that every quarterback would have an opportunity to start—was actually ongoing. The Patriots’ best option is Mac Jones. Bailey Zappe would have gotten the job weeks ago if he was qualified or distinguished himself in any other way. Malik Cunningham would be ranked first if he appeared capable. Since Will Grier was freed, we can presume he was also unable to complete the task.

And so that’s it. Jones Mac = Zappe Bailey. With no starter, the Patriots have two backups. Whichever player is available to play against the Chargers at 1:00 on Sunday matters not. That is the actual situation. I’m sorry about the defense.
