Nets Make Significant Adjustments to Injury Report Before Raptors Game.
When the Brooklyn Nets play the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night, their top scorer will be absent. The Nets declared that Cam Thomas’s status has been officially downgraded to out due to a left ankle sprain. Thomas, who leads the Nets in scoring this season with an average of 26.9 points per game, will not play for the ninth straight game.
Nic Claxton will, however, be available in Brooklyn. He was deemed unlikely to play, but after receiving an upgrade, he will play despite experiencing cramps in his right leg. As one of the best defensive centers in the NBA when healthy, he is anticipated to return to his starting center position for the Nets and cause Toronto some serious problems.
Dennis Smith Jr. is still doubtful to play, but Cameron Johnson is still likely to. Due to a right shoulder injury, Noah Clowney is not available. Christian Koloko is the only player injured for Toronto as he struggles with a persistent respiratory ailment that has been bothering him since the summer. There is still no timetable for his return. Additionally sidelined is Gradey Dick, who will continue to play in the G League with the Raptors 905. There is no schedule for his comeback to the Raptors.
The Nets are trying to get past the first round, while the Raptors are out of the running for in-season tournaments. Brooklyn needs to win and either have a better point differential than Boston and Orlando, or they need to see the Celtics lose to Chicago. In order for the Nets to surpass the Magic in point differential, they would need to win by a minimum of 15 points.
