GOOD NEWS: Giants Star Player Addresses explanations On…..

Giants great Carl Banks discusses his reasons for leaving his position at WFAN.

Giants legend Carl Banks discussed the reasons behind his resignation from his weekly midday slot on the renowned New York sports talk station during an appearance on ESPN New York, a rival to WFAN.

After a heated argument about Giants linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux’s play with hosts Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata last month, Banks was abruptly removed from the broadcast and subsequently left.

Banks said on “The Michael Kay Show” on Wednesday that the experience as a whole made him understand that his weekly appearances on WFAN, the Giants’ radio home, “was not a platform I want to be on.”

“My dad was an excellent debater. During his appearance on ESPN New York, Banks, the color analyst for Giants games on WFAN with play-by-play caller Bob Papa, stated, “I have no problem with debate, I have a problem with debating someone who will not acknowledge facts.” I believe that Tierney and Licata talk a lot about the facts, but when you want to ask me about someone and you want to have an opinion about them, and you tell me you haven’t seen them you.

Following the incident, the legendary football player said he had a conversation with the hosts and WFAN management.

The Post had been informed by a source that station management had made an effort to mend fences with Banks.

Banks remarked, “I’m bigger than arguing back and forth with people. I don’t want to say I’m bigger than them.” “It serves many other interests for me to do things the right way. It’s how my brand was developed. .. I won’t, however, make light of myself. Going back and forth when a fact is sitting right here, as plain as this cup, is not something they’re asking me to do.

After a while of a combative exchange of words, Licata told his producer to end Banks’ call.

Banks said he had been “to a degree” insulted by the way he had been picked on during the show, according to ESPN hosts Kay, Don La Greca, and Peter Rosenberg.

Banks remarked, “I’ll tell you what, Michael—the thing that got me was that I’m being treated like Carl from Secaucus.” “You know, I try to bring things that will try to make people smarter or more informed about a subject. I’m not a regular caller.”
