January injury report for the Oilers as of December 1st.

Oilers officially place head coach Dave Tippett into COVID-19 protocols

As December approaches, the Oilers remain healthy, but here’s the most recent information on Zach Hyman, Dylan Holloway, and Ryan Fanti.
For the Oilers, injuries played a significant role in the narrative leading up to and during the 2023–24 regular season. Connor McDavid, Markus Niemeläinen, Mattias Ekholm, and others all had problems that had an impact on the roster.

Thankfully, the team is now in a far stronger position for all parties involved. Here is the most recent information on the injuries the Oilers are currently facing, though:

Zachary Hyman
It must be acknowledged that Zach Hyman’s recent absence was due to illness rather than an injury. Due to a flu virus, he was forced to sit out Tuesday’s game against the Golden Knights.

Hyman, who was listed as day-to-day at the time, is back with the group now. After practice on Thursday morning, he addressed the media regarding his absence and said:

“It was not enjoyable. I tried to push through it on the morning skate, but it kept getting worse. Although it was only a 24-hour bug, it’s nice to be back.

The fact that Hyman’s absence was only temporary is undoubtedly welcomed by the Oilers. Having had a stellar season the previous year, he leads the team in goals scored with 12 and has 22 points overall from 20 games.

Dylan Hodges
Since November 15, Dylan Holloway has been placed on the long-term injured reserve (LTIR). He had suffered a knee injury during a game against the Islanders when he stumbled and collided with the boards.

Dec. 10 is the earliest possible return date for Holloway from LTIR. However, he is anticipated to miss a few months, as stated by Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 at the time of the injury.

Before his injury, the center had a generally poor season, scoring just one goal and earning a -3 plus/minus rating in his 14 games. He is still expected to become a key member of the Oilers’ bottom six in the long run.

Ryan Fanti
In actuality, Ryan Fanti’s situation remains unchanged. His hip injury is still listed as month-to-month as of the time of posting; the next update is anticipated around December 12.

From the moment he arrived at training camp, Fanti has been addressing his hip problem. It might take him some time to get back into action, but this won’t have an effect on the NHL organization.

On a personal note, the 24-year-old’s injury comes at a terrible time because he is scheduled to become a restricted free agent at the end of the current campaign. In order to establish his value, he must return to the pipes as soon as possible.

The Oilers are, all things considered, as healthy as they have been in a while, which speaks to the team’s recent general upturn in luck. Despite their current losing record of 8-12-1, they have won six of their last nine games as well as their last three games.
