During Sunday’s College Football Playoff selection show, Michigan hosted a watch party and was overjoyed to learn that their team had been ranked first in the country. But when they found out who they would be playing in the Rose Bowl, things quickly changed.

The Wolverines were almost certain to win the top slot, but everyone was waiting to see who would be chosen at number four. It would be between an unbeaten Florida State team and the SEC champion Alabama team with one loss. Someone was going to be passed over in either case. Michigan was not happy to learn that the Tide had taken the final spot.

Groans and a loud “Oh!” could be heard from the crowd as soon as the announcement was made. Shortly after, there was some mild cheering, but it’s obvious that the Wolverines would have preferred to draw the Seminoles over Alabama.

The top four CFP teams, Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama, will play for a national championship after the committee made its decision.
