While the Michigan Wolverines’ season is still going strong in the College Football Playoffs, the team’s 2024 roster is already being assembled. LaDarius Henderson, the starting left tackle for the maize and blue, was the first player the team committed to through the transfer portal around this time last season.

Michigan has already started contacting players to help fill spots for the upcoming season, even though the portal has officially opened. After looking through the portal, we’ve created a wish list of some guys who we think could be able to contribute to the Wolverines in 2024. These are a few guys that we liked in the beginning.

DL Joey Slackman
Michigan has already extended an offer to Slackman, a University of Pennsylvania graduate student, who will enroll there next year. In addition to receiving offers from Washington, Colorado, Miami, USC, Wisconsin, Oregon, and other schools, he was selected to the All-Ivy League first team. Throughout his career, he has one forced fumble and eight sacks. According to 247Sports, he is ranked as the seventh player in the transfer portal and has led the Quakers in PFF this season with a 90.1 rating.

After this season, Kris Jenkins and Cam Goode will be leaving, and the Wolverines would love to have quality players take their places. Slackman, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 300 pounds, might have an effect on a contender the next year. He joined the Penn football team after enrolling and was a state champion wrestler in high school. He is a bit of a late bloomer in the football scene.

QB Dante Moore
The product from Martin Luther King High School seems like the ideal addition to your home. The former five-star’s recruitment before he moved out west and got caught in Hollywood was largely influenced by Michigan.

Moore’s freshman year at UCLA did not turn out the way he had hoped. He was not named the starting lineup coming out of camp, but halfway through the season, the Bruins went 3-3 while he started six games.

Moore completed 53.5 percent of his passes, nine interceptions (several pick-sixes included) and incomplete passes. Moore is currently in the portal, indicating that it was not a good fit for him.

Many anticipate that Michigan and Michigan State will compete in this recruiting class, and Oregon is probably going to be favored as well. Moore is still the top-ranked quarterback in the portal despite having a rough start to his college career (2023). If J.J. McCarthy decides to turn pro, the Wolverines will almost certainly need a new signal caller.

Grayson McCall, quarterback
We’re going to stick with a quarterback and head south for Grayson McCall, a player with a great track record. For Coastal Carolina, he has started the last four seasons and amassed 10,005 yards and 88 touchdowns against just 14 interceptions. 2023 saw the Chanticleers finish 7-5, but McCall was only able to play in seven games due to an injury.

McCall has used the portal twice; the first time he used it to test the waters a season ago, he removed his name. That might happen again this year, but Jim Harbaugh might develop feelings for this kind of guy. He manages the football, completes 70% of his passes, and is a three-time Sun Belt Player of the Year.

McCall would probably be the best option for a 2023 gap year if Harbaugh wants to go with the veteran quarterback and prepare Jadyn Davis to start as a sophomore. Who’s to say the Wolverines can’t pull off the same feat as they did last offseason when they signed Josaiah Stewart from the portal out of Coastal Carolina?

Walter Nolan, DT
As the top-ranked recruit in the 2022 class, Walter Nolan was the jewel in Texas A&M’s recruiting class. Now, Nolan accessed the transfer portal on Sunday, Jimbo Fischer was fired, and the Mike Elko era started.

Nolan has been one of A&M’s best players during his two years there. Along with five sacks and a forced fumble, he has 66 tackles. Nolan is one of the nation’s most physically intimidating defensive linemen at 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds.

Next season, the Wolverines will need help at defensive line, and Nolan would be a great addition. When he was recruited out of high school, Michigan was ranked among his top five options, and he is currently the top player on the transfer portal.

According to 247Sports, Mike Macdonald and Shaun Nua were leading candidates at that time. However, Nolan must find the Michigan defense’s consistent success appealing, especially considering that Harbaugh has invested heavily in a number of NFL players on the defensive line. If Nolan changes his mind about Ann Arbor, he might be the next.

C Zeke Correll
Experienced offensive linemen from the transfer portal have frequently been added by Harbaugh, especially at the center position. Zeke Correll, a guard and center for five seasons at Notre Dame, has started 29 games in his career.

Despite an injury, he started in a blowout loss to Alabama while playing for the Fighting Irish, a team that advanced to the College Football Playoffs in 2020.

After this season, Michigan will lose Drake Nugent, Zak Zinter, and Trevor Keegan. Ann Arbor already has a lot of depth, but under Harbaugh, the plan has always been to maintain that level of depth. Correll seems like a fantastic choice for the anchor.
