Details surrounding receiver Chris Godwin’s neck injury were revealed last night.

The Buccaneers Radio Network carried the dish.

Godwin stated that he had to deal with the injury earlier in the season and that it limits his range of motion in his neck. Godwin, though, claims that up until the injury unexpectedly “flared up on me” halfway through Thursday’s practice, he was positive it was fully healed.

Regarding Sunday’s game against the Panthers, Godwin stated, “It was definitely a game time decision.”

Godwin continued, saying that although his range of motion was restricted during the game on Sunday, it was already decided that he was safe to play as soon as the whistle blew. Godwin acknowledged that necks can be frightening, and that his ultimate football goal is to be able to leave the game and live a normal life.

In regards to his being used as a ruse on Sunday, I tend to concur with you. But this whole season, his lack of targets has also been a problem. Thus, there are still valid reasons to be unhappy with the state of affairs. What he did with the targets he did get on Sunday—nothing—is also troubling. Although I think it’s great that Chris and Mike aren’t your typical “me first” diva receivers, if things keep going this way, I’d like to see Chris say something like, “Of course I’d like to see more targets,” etc. He’s definitely not playing like a $20 million receiver in his prime, so we’re not doing him any favors with the way we’re (not) using him.

I had a neck injury more than 20 years ago, which seemed unimportant at the time but has troubled me intermittently ever since. wishing Godwin well and health. It would be prudent for the Bucs to investigate this thoroughly and take care of it before it worsens. So be it if he has to miss time. This year, we are not going to win the Super Bowl. He and the Bucs can address this issue right now and don’t need to play around with it.

Joe was aware that following Sunday’s defeat by San Francisco, Lavonte David, Carlton Davis, Jamel Dean, and Tristan Wirfs were all hurt. To the list of walking wounded, now add another important starter.

Devin White did not take part in today’s practice. White seems to be suffering from some kind of foot injury. David did not practice today either. He hurt his groin on Sunday. Dean (foot) is in the same boat.
