Another Transfer has pay an official visit to Florida.
Eight official visitors were scheduled to visit Swamp247 this coming weekend as of Friday. But according to a number of sources, there will be another name from the portal in town this weekend for an official visit. That’s Chimere Dike, a former wide receiver for Wisconsin.
The current senior wide receiver made his transfer from Wisconsin official on December 4th, and he has since registered on the portal to locate his new residence. He still has a year to be eligible for his landing spot. He announced his plans and sent a message to Badger fans.
“First I would like to thank the University of Wisconsin for allowing me to attend and earn a degree from such prestigious university,” he wrote. I express my gratitude to my coaches and the entire UW support team. You guys have given me so much and have greatly influenced who I am now. I appreciate all of my teammates’ encouragement and support. It has been a blessing to be on the field with you guys, and our friendships will endure long after football. I’ve made the thoughtful decision to register as a graduate transfer for my final year of eligibility on the transfer portal.”
The next few weeks will be hectic in the world of college football recruiting as the Early Signing Period is in less than two weeks. Coaches are visiting high school commits and targets on their rounds, and the number of transfers through the NCAA Transfer Portal is increasing daily. This weekend marks the Florida Gators’ first visitation weekend of December. Among the targets are a combination of high school and portal players, along with one of their 2024 commits. Swamp247 examines the names that are anticipated to be in the area.
Interior offensive lineman Noel Portnjagin is the lone commit from Florida that will be in town this coming weekend. After working out in front of the staff, the offensive lineman with German roots received an offer from the Gators back in the summer. In June, he visited a few more camps, added a couple more offers, and made a commitment to the Gators that same month. Although it has not been easy for him to travel to Florida—he is from Germany—he was able to make one visit in July.
He will have the opportunity to spend some time with the coaching staff this weekend. He will not be going home after the visit because he graduated early this year. After the trip is over, he plans to stay in Gainesville, spend some time with family, and then move in.
This weekend, Florida will also have two well-known names in town who are currently involved in other projects. Florida has recently gained some traction with Decatur, Georgia, Columbia three-star athlete Jadan Baugh, an Arkansas commit. Baugh is a running back at the next level according to the Gators, and he just finished a successful senior campaign. Although he made his commitment to the Razorbacks in the spring, Florida and other schools have continued to show interest in him.
Later in the summer, the Gators began examining Baugh more closely, and they have now hosted him twice this year. Prior to committing to Arkansas, he made two visits: one in the spring when Florida hosted the Razorbacks, and another in the fall. Although he hasn’t visited Arkansas recently, he has kept in touch with their employees ever since he committed there. This cycle, Florida has desired to take a step back, and after witnessing Trevor Etienne’s name appear on the NCAA Transfer Portal on Thursday, that desire has grown even more apparent. Baugh gets along well with Jimmy Smith, the running back coach at Arkansas, who coached at the high school level in Georgia and has strong ties to the state.
