OHIO STATE BUCKEYES HAS AGREED THE $850 DEAL WITH.
Buckeyes’ position in relation to each of the 2024 targets and the Ohio State Transfer Portal’s current countdown.
Ohio State, Mark Pantoni, and Ryan Day put together an extremely strong recruiting class for 2023. They are currently assembling a fantastic class for 2024. Currently, they have 22 commitments that will start their scholarships as soon as they arrive at Ohio State, and one more long snapper, Morrow Evans, will start his scholarship a little later. This class is the second-best in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite team recruitment rankings. However, the class is not yet complete, and the staff is still working to bring in a few important new members.
The Buckeyes are putting in a lot of effort there as well, and the Transfer Portal has opened.
I list my current Top 10 2024 and Transfer Portal targets on Bucknuts today, along with an analysis of the Buckeyes’ standing in relation to each. Based on my assessment of each player’s importance to the Buckeyes and their likelihood of attending Ohio State, I have created a countdown.
It would be fantastic to bring in someone like Trevor Etienne if TreVeyon Henderson decides to leave Ohio State for the NFL, particularly if Jordan Lyle decides to transfer to Miami. I’m hearing right now that Henderson will probably stick with the Buckeyes for another season. Etienne rises in the rankings if he doesn’t.
The Buckeyes need defensive ends and edge rushers, and Trey Moore, who had 14 sacks for UTSA, is one of the best edge rushers in the portal. If he decides not to commit to Texas this weekend, he plans to visit Ohio State the following weekend, which is December 15.
An Ohio State program would benefit greatly from the addition of a plug-and-play offensive lineman, particularly a tackle, or a young player who has the potential to become a starter in the not too distant future. Though it’s possible that Chase Bisontis will wind up as a guard in the end, he might be that guy. Although it’s still too early to tell how strong the interest is on both sides, the Buckeyes are interested.
For Kyngston Viliamu-Asa, the Buckeyes came in second to Notre Dame. They are still talking to him and trying to recruit him. That being said, I believe it will be difficult to unseat him from Notre Dame, which is why he is not ranked higher.
When Kyle McCord announced that he was going to the Transfer Portal early on Monday morning, the situation at the quarterback position for the Buckeyes drastically changed. Before then, the Buckeyes had not been aggressively and fervently pursuing a portal quarterback. However, Riley Leonard would be a good addition now that things have changed. If it weren’t for the fact that I believe it will be extremely difficult for anyone to get him away from Notre Dame, he would be much higher on this list.
This weekend marks Carlon Jones’ official visit to the Buckeyes. The program’s staff is hoping to bring in two or more interior defensive linemen. Jones has scheduled an official visit to USC for the weekend of December 15, but he has closed his recruitment because the Ohio State staff is hoping to get a commitment from him. Over the next few days, I believe that is feasible.
Although Koi Perich has committed to Minnesota since April, I like the direction the Buckeyes are taking this one. Perich is currently the big prize, and Perry Eliano has been wanting to add another safety to this class for a while. Perich’s official visit to Florida State is scheduled for the weekend of December 15, in addition to Ohio State this weekend.
If I felt more confident about the Buckeyes’ chances right now, LT Overton might be at the top of my list. Although I have a tendency to believe that Overton will visit Ohio State officially, we aren’t even positive at this point. If you were to end up at Ohio State, the former 5-star is a very talented lineman who could quickly become a big asset to the Buckeyes.
Michigan State’s nose tackle Michigan State has started 6-foot-4, 350-pound player Derrick Harmon for the past two seasons. He is a nose tackle with NFL caliber who will be selected in the future and would be a fantastic asset to the Ohio State team. Miami was the leader once, but it has fallen from grace. Harmon has scheduled official visits to two additional schools: Washington and Oregon. The Buckeyes aren’t trailing anyone here, in my opinion.
Amaris Williams would be a fantastic addition to the Buckeyes, as they are in need of more talent at defensive end. He is still devoted to Florida. However, Auburn is also on the list of “mystery” schools, and I’ve already mentioned Georgia. Although I like the Buckeyes’ current position, Auburn and Georgia make things more difficult.
