Pitt Makes An Offer Former wide receiver for Western Carolina
A transfer wide receiver received an intriguing offer from the Pitt Panthers.

Pittsburgh — The Pitt Panthers’ most recent offer to a player via the transfer portal has drawn attention due to its association with the current offensive coordinator search.

C.J. Lee, a talented sophomore wide receiver from Western Carolina who just recently signed through the transfer portal, received an offer from the Panthers this week.

The first FBS school to make Lee an offer was Pitt. Additionally, FCS Rhode Island made contact and offered a scholarship.

Lee led the Catamounts and improved upon his stellar freshman year in 2022, when he caught 36 passes for 634 yards and six touchdowns. In 11 games in 2023, Lee caught 46 passes for 792 yards and eight touchdowns.

The 5’11, 170-pound wide receiver was named to the Southern Conference’s All-Freshman Team in 2022 and made the second team in 2023. This past season, the Catamounts were first in yards per play, eighth in offensive touchdowns, and first in yards per game.

The Panthers are currently searching for an offensive coordinator, and Kade Bell of Western Carolina is reportedly one of their top candidates. This makes the offer all the more noteworthy.

This winter, two former Catamounts could become Panthers.

South Carolina, Auburn and Texas Tech have also taken an early interest in Pounders, who entered the portal just a day ago.

Pounders entered the 2022 season as Memphis’ starting left tackle but an injury kept him sidelined for five games. He returned as the starter in 2023 and appeared in 10 games for an explosive Tigers offense that averaged 39.7 points and 452.1 yards per game this past season.

Pounders was a three-star recruit coming out of high school in 2021 and chose the Tigers over the likes of Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas, LSU, Missouri, UCF and Florida State, among others.

PITTSBURGH — The Pitt Panthers are hoping to add some depth – and maybe even a top-of-the-line starter to their offensive line this offseason.

Former Memphis offensive tackle Makylan Pounders, a 6’5 and 290-pound left tackle, has picked up four offers from Power 5 teams since entering the transfer portal and Pitt is one of them.
