Jacksonville Jaguars Sign Quarterback Following Trevor Lawrence Injury Update One Day Before Browns Game

The Jacksonville Jaguars, in advance of their Week 14 matchup with the Cleveland Browns, announced a quarterback roster move on Saturday. Following Lawrence’s high-ankle sprain against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night, the Jaguars listed him as questionable to play against the Browns.

This week, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson informed reporters that the third-year quarterback’s availability for Sunday would depend on how well he practiced on Friday. Pederson stated that the choice to start Lawrence would be made close to kickoff.

Given the uncertainty surrounding Lawrence’s availability, the Jaguars strengthened their 53-man roster by adding quarterback depth. The Jaguars signed Nathan Rourke to the active roster, per their statement.

The Jaguars signed Rourke in January as an undrafted free agent. Before signing with the Jaguars, he played two seasons in the CFL with the BC Lions. For the 2022 season, Rourke took home the CFL’s Most Outspoken Canadian title.

There are few stories in the NFL right now that are hotter than what is happening with Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott. It has been reported that McDermott compared the 9/11 terrorist attacks to teamwork back in 2021 when addressing his team. As messed up as that is to think about, there are people on two different sides of the aisle when it comes to Buffalo’s head coach.

Some believe that the Bills should look to move on from him. He has struggled to get the team prepared to play and his comments have sent that group over the ledge. On the other hand, there are some who believe that he’s still an elite head coach and that Buffalo should keep him around for at least one more season.

Whatever your position, it is abhorrent to compare coordinated football plays to terrorist acts that result in death. McDermott is probably aware of this and regrets it.

Viciously, the Bills star defends Sean McDermott
The Bills’ star Micah Hyde did not hold back in his scathing defense of his head coach, even as McDermott faced a lot of backlash for remarks he had made in the past. He’s not interested in putting up with the hate for McDermott.

Looking further past the brutally dumb comments from McDermott, there is a case to be made for him to be fired simply by the work he has put in.

Coming into the season, the Bills were expected to be a serious Super Bowl contender. They have a stacked offense, a stacked defense, and one of the most talented quarterbacks in the game in Josh Allen. All of that has only translated to a 6-6 record and Buffalo is in serious danger of missing the playoffs altogether.

Buffalo has already fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. At what point does some of the blame fall on the head coach?

Only time will tell what the future holds for McDermott with the Bills. His seat is on fire, especially with this kind of story breaking amid a bad season. Hyde believes in his head coach, but it will be interesting to see what the front office ends up thinking at the end of the year.
