THE LAS VEGAS RAIDERS HAS AGREED WITH $75O DEAL WITH.

Raiders Beat Giants To Give Pierce Win In Debut As Interim Coach

This week’s mailbag is all about the offseason because the Las Vegas Raiders are all but eliminated from the postseason. Given that they have a number of decisions to make and a new government is about to take office, Las Vegas should have a busy spring.

The chance to collaborate with Aidan O’Connell or personally select a different quarterback would be appealing. It’s also a nice bonus to have someone like Kolton Miller guarding the young quarterback. Another interesting candidate to collaborate with for an offensive-minded head coach would be Michael Mayer.

It also helps that you mentioned Mark Davis’s attempts to make the Raiders a desirable destination. For obvious reasons, guys in their 20s with some disposable income find Las Vegas to be a desirable travel destination. Everyone benefits from Nevada’s tax structure, which is a pleasant little perk in any contract negotiations, including those involving coaches.

Regarding how any of it affects the win column, well, that depends on having the right players in place, something Davis has found difficult to accomplish since taking over the team.

The good news is that he made some wise choices when the team was led by Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock, and when Reggie McKenzie and Jack Del Rio ended the team’s postseason drought. For a variety of reasons, though, neither of those regimes was able to sustain the success.

Thus, there are many grounds for both optimism and pessimism regarding the franchise’s future. Time will undoubtedly tell all, but for the time being, I’m going to choose optimism. Of course, that could alter based on the candidates Davis selects!

It makes sense that I’ve fielded a lot of these questions in recent weeks, but I do believe Davis will grow from his errors. I got the impression from Davis’ willingness to pay Josh McDaniels to go away rather than burying his head in the sand that he is a wise Vegas resident who knows when to fold when the system isn’t functioning. That gave him some credibility in my eyes, so I’m hopeful that he’ll return to the setup where the head coach and general manager are not inextricably linked.

To be completely honest, I don’t know enough about the front offices around the league (beyond general managers) to be able to identify up-and-coming general managers or anything of the sort. However, I will say that I think Howie Roseman has done a great job building the Eagles’ roster. Roseman leaving Philadelphia for Las Vegas would surprise me greatly, so I don’t think that’s a possibility, but I would be thrilled to pick someone from that group.
