Former Patriots practice squad linebacker Calvin Munson has been re-signed by the Dolphins.

Calvin Munson is returning to the opposite side of the AFC East following three ascents.

According to a report from ESPN’s Mike Reiss on Saturday, the veteran linebacker from the 3-10 New England Patriots’ practice squad has been signed by the 9-3 Miami Dolphins.

In December 2019, Munson, 28, was added to the team’s 53-man roster. In December 2021, he was then claimed off waivers. After three separate tours in Foxborough, he is now starting his third tour in Miami Gardens.

The San Diego State graduate first signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2017; on the way to Super Bowl LIII, he joined head coach Bill Belichick’s practice squad. In his 46 career games, he has recorded 88 tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble. He has played in 22 Dolphins games and 10 Patriots games.

Munson saw 11 defensive snaps and 25 special team snaps for New England this season before being placed back on the practice squad for the last time in November due to league regulations.

Christian Elliss, a key special team player and fellow linebacker, was acquired by the Patriots off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles prior to his departure.

With kicker Matthew Wright’s recent release, the practice squad now has two openings.
