After a thrilling victory, Browns fans demand that the team give $270 million to Joe Flacco.
Strong safety Grant Delpit appears to have signed a long-term contract with the Browns that is very team-friendly.
The Cleveland Browns, prior to their huge win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday that moves them to 8-5 on the season, made a crucial roster move to prepare the team for its future, locking up 25-year old safety Grant Delpit to a contract extension, the terms of which weren’t readily available. However, it has now been revealed by Brad Stainbrook of 247 Sports that the Browns and Delpit were able to reach a deal on a three-year, $36 million contract that included just over $23 million in guaranteed money.
Because the money is only guaranteed for the first two years of the contract, the way it is currently structured makes it essentially a two-year deal. For the Browns, this is a team-friendly contract, as some analysts think Delpit could have commanded a higher salary had he chosen to enter free agency. With free safety Juan Thornhill signed to a $21 million contract that includes $14 million in guaranteed money for the following three seasons, the Browns now have contracts for both of their safeties.
Ohio’s Cleveland — Following the Cleveland Browns’ 31-27 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, fans poured out of the stadium, essentially staging a parade for Joe Flacco. The new quarterback for the Browns scored three touchdowns. In his first two starts since joining the team two weeks ago, he has thrown for five touchdowns.
Before praising Flacco, some fans made the comparison to injured Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, who is currently in the second year of a five-year contract worth a guaranteed $230 million. “Hey, I wish we had given Joe Flacco that Deshaun Watson money.” Sincerely, I think he deserves it!
Hundreds of supporters cheered on the 8-5 Browns and showered love for the former Super Bowl MVP by stopping by the Cleveland.com camera.
A smiling fan exclaimed, “Years ago, we were yelling at this guy for being on the wrong team, and now he’s winning for us, I love it!”
One younger fan commented, saying, “That old guy can throw! That’s amazing!” He is skilled at what he does. Yes, without a doubt.
