DESPONDENT NEWS: THE VOLS PLAYER WAS DOWNHEARTED BY.

After some recruiting misses at the position, and seeing his performances at the beginning of his senior season, South Carolina’s football program dispensed an offer to Palmetto State and 2024 four-star wide receiver prospect Braylon Staley. Upon receiving his offer from the Gamecocks, Staley was spotted sporting Carolina gear at his very next high school game with the Strom Thurmond Rebels, conveying that there was at least some mutual interest between both sides.

As the season progressed, however, there never seemed to be any publicly known and tangible progress. Earlier this week, Gamecock wide receivers coach Justin Stepp conducted an in-home visit with Staley and his family, generating some buzz on social media. Despite the staff’s best efforts, it appears as if Braylon has solidified his commitment to the Volunteers, as on Friday afternoon, made his intentions clear that he will sign national letter of intent with Tennessee.

• OL MaKylan Pounders – Memphis (12/7/2023): Appeared in 20 games for the Tigers, starting in 12 of them.

• WR Zavion Thomas – Mississippi State (12/7/2023): Named a 2022 Freshman All-American as a punt returner by the Football Writers Association Of America, Thomas took a step forward as a receiver this Fall, catching 40 passes for 503 receiving yards and one touchdown.

• RB Sam Franklin – UT-Martin (12/7/2023): Named a Walter Payton Award finalist, given to the best offensive player at the FCS level, Sam exploded for 1,386 yards on 223 carries, and reached the endzone eleven times on the ground.

• LB Alex Howard – Youngstown State (12/6/2023): A rising sixth-year player, Howard put together a career year in 2023, totaling 76 tackles, which included 9.5 TFL’s and 3.5 sacks, and snagging one interception.

• TE Brady Hunt – Ball State (12/5/2023): Named a freshman All-American and First team All-MAC selection for his play in 2022, Hunt caught 46 passes for 498 yards and five touchdowns.

• WR Donaven McCulley – Indiana (12/5/2023): A rising true senior, McCulley racked up 813 receiving yards on 64 catches and 13 total touchdowns during his time with the Hoosiers.

• OL Kevin Wigenton II – Michigan State (12/5/2023): A rising redshirt junior, Wigenton started in six games and played in 14 games during his time in East Lansing.

• OL Fernando Carmona Jr. – San Jose State (12/4/2023): A rising redshirt junior who started 24 games over the past two years for the Spartans, and only gave up 5 sacks in 995 pass-blocking snaps according to Pro Football Focus.

• WR Will Sheppard – Vanderbilt (12/4/2023): Over his four seasons in Nashville, Will racked up 152 catches for 2,067 receiving yards and 21 receiving touchdowns.
