MIAMI HEAT HAS FINALLY OWNED THE RACE BY SIGNING.
‘Inside the Heat’ Emmy awarded to Cavaliers’ Max Strus upon his return to Miami
After leaving the Heat for the Cleveland Cavaliers as a free agent last summer, Strus was featured in a program that followed his journey to the NBA and Miami. For this reason, he was awarded an Emmy statuette.
“Inside the Heat — Max Strus” was one of two Sports Program — Post-Produced or Edited Series programs that the Heat won an Emmy for at last weekend’s Suncoast Regional Emmy Awards ceremony. Another Emmy was given to a program about Heat general manager and executive vice president Andy Elisburg.
“Our time with Max and his family was truly enjoyable,” Erik Spoelstra, the coach of the Heat, stated. “We got to know his family really well.”
This week, Strus made light of the fact that he was unsure whether Miami would present his Emmy award on a red carpet. About an hour before Friday’s game, he agreed to a modest ceremony, and yes, he gave a speech.
“Never thought I would have gotten one of these,” Strus exclaimed upon receiving his statuette from the Bally Sports staff. He said, “This is all you guys,” and thanked the team for their labor. All I was in was the video. This was made possible by you guys.”
After Friday’s play, Strus had averaged 14.5 points for the Cavaliers this season, who have now signed him to a four-year, $64 million contract. Strus played for the Miami Heat for three seasons, starting their runs to the NBA Finals in 2023 and the Eastern Conference Finals in 2022. In his first road game against his old team, Cleveland defeated him 111-99, and he scored 11 points.
On December 2, the Emmy winners were revealed. Elisburg got their statuette on Monday, and the Heat had their first chance to give Strus his on Friday.
