HE MIGHT NEVER PLAY; PITTSBURGH STEELERS STAR PLAYER WITH SERIOUS INJURY.
Mike Tomlin of the Steelers modifies position regarding WR George Pickens’ feelings: “There is an issue.”
Tomlin desires a more “solution-oriented” approach from his gifted young receiver.
Head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin, wrote off George Pickens’ apparent annoyance on the field a month ago as a “non-issue.” Tomlin shifted his position during his Monday interview with reporters.
With 767 receiving yards, Pickens leads the team among wide receivers, but he hasn’t caught a touchdown pass since October. Additionally, the 22-year-old hasn’t surpassed 100 yards receiving since defeating the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7. He has only recorded more than four receptions in a game once in the previous seven games.
During the team’s 20-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans last month, his displeasure with the Steelers’ offense was evident. Diontae Johnson, a wide receiver, led the team with a late touchdown in the victory. Pickens remained on the bench and seemed unhappy while teammates rejoiced.
Pickens’ attitude was ridiculed by Tomlin following the victory, stating, “I know it’s a cute story for you guys, but it is a pebble in my shoe, to be quite honest with you.”
Broadcast cameras have been capturing the receiver’s emotions during games for the past few weeks. Tomlin was seen talking to Pickens on the sidelines last Thursday after he seemed to show signs of frustration during the team’s loss to the New England Patriots.
