SO DISAPPOINTING AS NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS COACH EVENTUALLY DREW BACK.
The Tennessee Titans placed a former player who had never served as head coach in charge of their football team when they hired Mike Vrabel. Coach Vrabel has guided the Titans to three postseason appearances, despite the fact that the team has yet to win a Super Bowl. However, Tennessee has missed the postseason since 2021, and general manager Jon Robinson was made the victim last year.
Despite winning two of their last three games, Tennessee’s 5-8 record puts them on pace to miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season. Can the Titans let go of Coach Vrabel now that they have Ran Carthon in charge?
It appears that the Titans aren’t prepared to let go of Vrabel. not through sacking. Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the front office thinks they have the right coach in place.
But what if Vrabel wishes to leave? The New England Patriots do seem to be on track to move on from Bill Belichick, after all. Vrabel has strong ties to the Patriots, having been inducted into the Hall of Fame recently, and he might be open to the idea of taking his once-great team back to prominence.
In his column on Wednesday, ESPN’s Dan Graziano said that Vrabel’s situation is “interesting one to watch.”
Even though the Titans don’t currently intend to part ways with Coach Vrabel at the end of the regular season, things could change if a team makes a compelling trade offer, like the Patriots. In the event that the Titans move on, Coach Vrabel may land in these two additional places.
Of course, it must be tempting to go back to the place where he spent eight successful seasons learning from Bill Belichick while playing for the Patriots and winning three Super Bowls. Particularly if the Patriots extend an offer to raise his pay, making Vrabel one of the NFL’s highest-paid coaches at the moment.
Being the man in charge of replacing Belichick in New England requires a certain amount of confidence. However, after Vrabel’s success with the Titans, team owner Robert Kraft probably doesn’t need much convincing that he would be a good coach with the Patriots.
